God of War 3 Remastered PC Mods

For compatible file mods, place the mod ZIP in the selected mods folder and let the launcher or game unpack it, or use the documented folder layout. Enable it in the launcher and restart. Lower entries have higher priority when files conflict; the runtime builds a temporary file tree instead of modifying your original game folder.

Mod format and priority from docs/MODS.md at the 2.4.1 release commit. DLL injectors, script plugins and replacement eboot/module/system files are outside this file-mod path.

Check the format table before installing and the load-order rules before combining mods.

Supported file layouts and patch boundaries

The default mods directory is mods/ in the data directory—beside the program in the ordinary Windows setup. The launcher can select a different directory. Use the configured location rather than assuming every installation uses the same root. ZIP paths and symlinks with unsafe layouts are refused; do not interpret a refused archive as successful activation.

Formats accepted by the documented system

On a narrow screen, scroll the table horizontally to read every column.

InputHow it is handled
A mod ZIPDrop into the chosen mods directory; launcher/game extracts to a folder with the ZIP name
A mod folderMod name/dvdroot_ps4/...
app0-wrapped dataMod name/app0/dvdroot_ps4/... is accepted
One extra enclosing folderA single wrapper such as Mod name/Mod v1.2/dvdroot_ps4/... is accepted
7z / RARExtract first; automatic ZIP handling is not the same as automatic support for these archives
A game-patch modXML in its patches/ folder; enabled along with that mod
Replacement eboot.bin, sce_module or sce_sys; DLL/script pluginsNot supported through the documented file-mod path

Enable one mod and check its actual effect

  1. Preserve the working setup

Close the game and keep a separate backup of the selected save/data root. Record enabled mods and order before changing them; original game-file preservation does not guarantee an add-on cannot affect saved progress.

  2. Place the compatible mod

Use a ZIP or supported folder layout in the selected mods directory. The ZIP is unpacked automatically when the launcher or game starts; an existing same-name folder you created is not overwritten.

  3. Enable the mod and launch again

Use the launcher’s mod controls, enable the intended entry, save pending choices and start a new session. Mod changes apply on the next start.

  4. Confirm the intended replacement

Inspect the actual changed content and the log. A Mods: … game files replaced, … added message distinguishes replacement from an archive that merely exists. If a file-replacement mod shows zero replacements, inspect its internal paths.

  5. Disable to compare with the original

Untick the mod or use the master switch, restart and compare the same content. Keep your backup if the test changed progress; removing a file layer cannot reverse an already saved outcome.

Conflicts, presets and code patches

The mod lower in the launcher list has priority. Two replacements of the same file are not merged: the later file wins as a whole, and the log identifies the winner. Record the enabled order with any preset so a successful combination can be reproduced.

The shadPS4-style sibling <game folder>-mods/dvdroot_ps4/... is loaded before the listed mods and is also controlled by the master switch. New mod folders are enabled at the end of the list in alphabetical order. Order/disabled state lives in mods.json in the data directory.

Code patches in a mod’s patches/ folder apply while that mod is enabled. A same-name patch can replace a built-in patch; wrong-title-ID or unreadable patch files are ignored with a log warning. Third-party patch files have their own priority rules and can override built-in writes. Do not treat the conflict detector or a valid filename as proof that two patches are safe together.

Use built-in features when they already answer the task

The six wide/tall resolution choices are built in from 2.4.0. The historical Ultrawide mod is useful for older versions, not a required download for 2.4.1. Its aspect-ratio guide lists the exact choices and remaining HUD/video limits.

Cheats, multipliers, the performance overlay and several patches are also built into the port. Use the actual cheat menu instead of treating every advertised feature as a third-party mod. A preset for the 2018 God of War executable is not automatically compatible with this PS4 Remastered runtime.
